Hastings was recognized for building one of the world’s most valuable companies and for reinventing how people create and experience entertainment — transforming what began as a mail-order DVD service into a global enterprise with more than 300 million paid subscribers. In accepting the award, Hastings turned his focus to the future of artificial intelligence, observing: "Society is in for the greatest revolution, both positive and negative, that we’ve ever seen. It’s going to take all of us working together to learn, adapt, and ensure that this works out for our society."

Mr. Levie stated: "Today’s Summit was a masterclass in candid leadership. Jeff Sonnenfeld once again assembled an extraordinary collection of business, government, technology, and media leaders to confront, without spin, the questions AI is putting to every enterprise on earth. As an industrial group operating across two dozen countries, AIAC sees firsthand that AI is not an abstraction — it is already reshaping how we design, manufacture, and serve our customers, and how we invest in and reskill our people. I join my colleagues at the Yale CEO Summit in recognizing Reed Hastings, whose vision, courage, and willingness to disrupt his own success have redefined an entire industry. Leaders like Reed remind us that in moments of great technological upheaval, human judgment, values, and the well-being of our workforce matter more, not less."
